Jennifer Hinze is the owner and operator of Polka Dots Boutique located in Old Town, Lansing.
Jennifer began with a career in law for 16 years, but driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, embarked on a new journey, purchasing Polka Dots Boutique when it was a bead store in 2014. Seeing potential in the business, Jennifer seized the opportunity to expand, purchasing and restoring the historic building housing the retail storefront.
Polka Dots Boutique underwent a remarkable transformation, evolving from a bead store into a thriving hub for ethically sourced clothing, accessories, and gifts. Committed to sustainability and social responsibility, Jennifer and her staff have curated a collection of products that not only delight customers but also support artisans and communities around the world. Jennifer has been named Greater Lansing Socially Responsible Entrepreneur of the Year, her store has received the honor of being voted #1 Locally Owned Clothing Store multiple times, reflecting Jennifer’s commitment to ethical business practices and community engagement.
Jennifer is also a breast cancer survivor. Her journey through diagnosis, treatment, and recovery serves as a testament to resilience, courage, and determination to overcome adversity. Jennifer has committed to advocacy among other women sharing a similar diagnosis. Her experience with cancer and the changes it made to her physical being, as well as mentally has given her drive to help women see their true beauty in all shapes, sizes and forms. Jennifer trains in kettlebell sport and recently competed in her first event since prior to her cancer diagnosis.
Despite her transition into entrepreneurship, Jennifer has remained connected to the legal community by working with the State Bar of Michigan and other non-profit groups. Jennifer also serves on the executive committee of the Downtown Lansing Inc board, playing a vital role in shaping the development and growth of the downtown Lansing area.
As a devoted mother, Jennifer takes immense pride in raising her two children, one a student at Northern Michigan University and the other a Spartan at Michigan State University.
